Fresh off the heels of the success of Transformers 4: Age of Extinction, Hasbro has announced plans to film not only Transformers 5, which will be a continuation of the events in Age of Extinction, but also Transformers 6.

Michael Bay is slated to return for Transformers 5 to finish that story, but when asked if he would return for Transformers 6, he said, “No way! I’m done with those whiney Transformers fans. They will never be happy with anything that’s not a direct copy of the story from their childhoods. Seriously guys, grow up!”

There has been much speculation about who would take over the reins after Bay leaves. Guillermo Del Toro has been mentioned quite a bit on the fan forums, but this website has learned that Joss Whedon, creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and more recently director of the massively successful and well-received The Avengers film will helm the newest installment of the Transformers film series.

When asked for comment, Whedon said that he was “excited to join the Transformers franchise so that I can give the fans the movie that they have always wanted, just like I did with The Avengers.” When asked about a plot, he only offered this, “I can’t give away any details on it yet, but it will be a reboot of the film series. We have lined up a couple of the prominent Transformers comic writers, Simon Furman and James Roberts, to write the screenplay. I’m a huge fan of their work in the comics and I’m super excited to have them on board with the film.”

Fans of Transformers comics will recognize Simon Furman as the long-time writer of many Transformers properties including the original comics and its continuation Regeneration One as well as the final episode of the Beast Wars: Transformers animated series. James Roberts is currently at the helm of the hugely popular Transformers: More Than Meets The Eye comic series and is a lifelong fan of Transformers.

Furman and Roberts could not be reached for comment.

This article is completely made-up as an example of how easy it is to write a somewhat believable yet completely false article on the internet. Apologies to all of the fantastic artists mentioned in this article, although I’m sure they are used to it.
